- ·9.10.I think this fund is performing a little below par compared to what has happened in the industry over the past year. I sold out and put it into other AI related securities.
- ·28.2.Does anyone know why it's going down so much now?·8.3.Yes. It's a technical correction/PE contraction. It's perfectly normal, you have these a couple of times a year, usually around this time and between September and November. There doesn't have to be any other reason than technical, although the media likes to pin it on Trump. The fact is, the market gives a shit who's president. They care about earnings, EPS growth. They care about very little else.
- ·27.1.Hi. After today's AI news and stock market declines especially for Nvidai, Microsoft and Tesla, should I sell out of this fund which is mainly in US tech stocks?·8.3.AI. But you. You can't invest in something because it's called AI or has something to do with it. Look at the companies. Look at the earnings reports, are they making money, is that income growing in line with the shares? Markets don't care if it's called AI or tomatoes, as long as they have income and can justify the price of the shares. Don't fall in love with buzz words. They don't help anything if the income isn't there. Look at MSFT here. They haven't shown growth good enough to justify the high price. They were the poster child for the whole AI thing that started, but they haven't been able to make money from it. In a few years, the buzz word AI will be replaced by something else. Then you have to have something to fall back on. Income. I started investing when the internet came out in 97. There were so many people who lost almost everything they had because they drove money into "internet stocks", 4 years later there were few of those who had any competitive advantage on it and the shares had gone beyond that, then it contracted over the next ten years. Don't get hung up on technical development because it changes year by year. Look at the companies, balance sheets, calculate expected growth. In 21 the buzz word wasn't AI, it was green shift, where is it now? Yes it is, but nobody makes money from it. A few years before that it was biotech, where is it now? That's what most people don't make money from. Then it dies. I'm a software engineer and have been for over 20 years. I've seen it all. In a few years no one will be talking about AI, it's so common and everyone is doing it. The same was with the internet. In the beginning it's new and exciting, Wall Street pushes what is bad, then it goes out and boom. Good luck. You'll need it if AI is what you invest on the basis of·8.3.Just to be clear. When I say they don't make money on it. They make money... but the stock price should be defended as it has risen on enormous expectations. Those expectations rarely play out and you will see contractions because of that. Everything is relative. As an engineer in this, I don't see what one company should have an advantage over another. NVDA's lead is already shrinking, all software I know of already has Ai in it. Software still has to solve business problems if it is to be sold, it is not Ai that does, it is the one who writes the code for the software. AI is not CharGPT, it is business software that solves problems, it is digital twins, it is research, it is finance, it is cyber security, etc. where the money is. But again, most bids are that the software solves problems or not. A company that is going to buy it doesn't care how they are solved but that they are solved. And again it goes on coding, price, user experience, it goes on integration into value chains, etc. that determines whether you buy this or that software. It also goes to the name of the company. Orm only buys from reputable software companies. Others, due to national security, must only buy from certain people. AI, I can guarantee you, is the last thing on the list of things that is important when spending money. And… that is the money these companies are after.
- ·10.11.2024Why has it started to go up lately?·11.11.2024Last week, the Trump effect particularly lifted Tesla, which is the second largest item in the portfolio. Over a longer period of time, Nvidia, which is the biggest exposure here, has gone "adventurously" - Look at the exposure on the holding here, then you can click directly on each share to see the development....🙂·8.3.Trump effect. It's short-term stuff. It goes away and oooppps. What happened, now we're in March. Where's your Trump effect? You should learn what's important in the markets, it's not short-term effects. The Trump effect you're referring to was short covering that happens no matter who's elected president. An effect like that happens because everyone goes short and hedges for the election. When the election is over they release their positions and it has an effect. Let's see. Tesla is down over 50_% from your post, nvda is down a ton, everything is down a ton. Short coverings are the answer to that initial question.
