More electricity in the EU from wind and solar than from fossil energy BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) – Wind and solar power produced more electricity in the EU last year than fossil fuels for the first time, according to an analysis. Around 30 percent of the EU's electricity production in 2025 came from solar and wind energy, while 29 percent originated from fossil fuels, according to a report from the think tank Ember. In total, renewable energy sources – including hydropower and biomass – accounted for 47.7 percent, almost half, of electricity production. According to the report, 23.4 percent was produced with nuclear power. Coal power reached a historically low level in 2025 with a share of 9.2 percent, Ember further states. At the same time, the EU is still significantly dependent on gas: Compared to 2024, the share of gas in electricity production last year increased to 16.7 percent, about 8 percent more than the year before. The EU has adopted an import ban on gas from Russia The authors write that the risk of energy-political pressure from exporters of fossil fuels remained high in 2025. «Investments in domestic renewable energy sources are a key strategy to reduce this risk, as geopolitical developments continue to create instability,» the Ember report states. Towards the end of last year, the EU agreed to be completely independent of Russian natural gas by the end of 2027 at the latest. Imports of Russian gas via pipelines based on long-term contracts shall then be completely stopped by November 1, 2027, at the latest. The import ban is intended to supplement existing sanctions and ensure that EU countries become independent of energy imports from Russia in the long term and thus less vulnerable to pressure. The authors warn against new dependencies Ember also warns against dependence, including with regard to the USA: «A strong dependence on a single supplier threatens the EU's security and weakens its negotiating position in geopolitical conflicts and trade disputes,» the report states. The development of battery storage, strengthening of electricity grids, and increased demand management can enable a higher share of solar and wind energy in the energy mix. «This not only increases supply security but is also crucial for stable and reliable energy prices.» https://live.deutsche-boerse.com/news/Mehr-Strom-in-EU-aus-Wind-und-Solar-als-aus-fossiler-Energie-2bd94055-27a0-45e2-afee-69d2582552f6

UBS raises Siemens Energy two notches, to BUY (sell), price target 175 euro https://www.nordnet.no/market/news/741f49af-1fe8-4673-9a29-15201a1254f9 FRANKFURT – The record run in Siemens Energy shares looks set to continue on Friday. On the Tradegate trading platform, the share is trading before the stock market opens around two percent higher than the Xetra closing price the day before, and is thus above 140 euro. In the last two years, Siemens Energy has been among the best shares in the DAX index, and also in 2026 the company is again considered among the favorites. In two years, investors have been able to more than twelvefold their investment in the share. The company is considered an important winner of the AI megatrend, driven by the parallel increasing need for electrical power. The Swiss major bank UBS has on Friday upgraded the energy technology group from "Sell" to "Buy". With a price target of 175 euro, analyst Christopher Leonard places himself among the most optimistic regarding Siemens Energy. His estimates for the operating result until 2030 are above analyst consensus. Leonard expects market expectations to be driven by margin development, and is simultaneously optimistic about further order growth within the gas turbine business. https://live.deutsche-boerse.com/news/AKTIE-IM-FOKUS-Siemens-Energy-setzen-Rekordjagd-wohl-fort---UBS-dreht-auf-Buy-217af2db-0ac4-4669-b35f-d8d4caecc94ec

Excerpt of the essence, if you want to read the original, see the link. BlackRock has reported that they have increased their total voting rights share in Siemens Energy AG to 8.02 %, up from 7.44 %. The change took effect on January 19, 2026, and is due to a voluntary group notification following changes in BlackRock's internal group structure, not necessarily new share purchases in the market. Of the total share, 7.77 % comes from direct and indirect shareholdings, corresponding to approximately 66.9 million shares. In addition, BlackRock holds 0.25 % of voting rights via financial instruments, mainly lent shares with recall rights and cash-settled contracts for difference (CFDs). The total number of votes in Siemens Energy is 861 million, and BlackRock thus remains a significant institutional owner in the company. The notification indicates stable ownership and long-term interest but gives no direct signals of a changed investment strategy. https://live.deutsche-boerse.com/news/Siemens-Energy-AG-Release-according-to-Article-40-Section-1-of-the-WpHG-443d545f-c5e4-4f31-884f-918348ca979f
