Interesting what this announcement from the CEO does to the stock price. If anything... Tl;DR: Unity's CEO says they will unveil some AI thing at GDC in March, which makes it possible to prompt your way to a casual game without being able to code. It's Muse, Unity's AI that they have been working on for a long time now. It's AI hype, but less idiotic than Genie. https://www.gamedeveloper.com/programming/unity-says-its-ai-tech-will-soon-be-able-to-prompt-full-casual-games-into-existence-?fbclid=IwY2xjawQBAJpleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEewfnvYu3JmsgvGzWV4D9WhAamKVj6BNmSST9WEFC26PRhGK1TQtN8Rxd4SMI_aem_i-yzOJ93Rrb_E4XHAmzDSA

It is good that the CEO addresses it. Everything that smells of AI soars, and everything that is deemed threatened by AI is cut down. Is it because the market believes that people will accept poor game universes made with Genie just because they made them themselves?

Yes, one can undoubtedly in quite a short time... Or a good operating system that isn't Windows. Or anything else. A bit creepy actually, I don't think it will be long before we end up in something like "the matrix". Sooner or later. It's already getting out of control. 🤣

Here's my take on $U (Unity) 4Q25. In my opinion, Unity delivered their strongest combined earnings report + commentary ever, and I increased my already significant position in my private portfolio by 50% the day after. Here's why: My expertise is not classical financial analysis, but as someone who has “lived” with the tools: I have published a dozen Unity games (and some in Unreal). Here's what I liked about the report and the call: Revenue landed at $503M with a margin of 25%, and 2025 Free Cash Flow was over $400M. Stock-based compensation was cut significantly (down 19% YoY; from 33% of revenue to 21%), and employee SBC ceases entirely from 2Q26. Vector has grown mid-teens every quarter since launch. Create is growing 16%. Unity has refinanced ~ $690M and now sits with >$2B in cash. Quite healthy for a company with a market cap of $8B. Some of the disappointment seems to come from Grow guiding flat QoQ. But everyone in ad tech knows that “flat after Q4” in practice is a flex due to seasonality. And it becomes even more ridiculous when held up against the call: January 2026 was Vector's best revenue month ever, even beating December 2025. It's conservative to guide flat, but it makes sense while the new system ramps up and IronSource fades out. At the same time, IronSource co-founder (Tomer Bar-Zeev) is leaving the board – and that's genuinely good. With a run rate pointing towards $1B+ for Vector in 2026, I expect Grow to return to growth as early as next quarter. For years, Unity has had an absurd share of game development but has struggled to make it a good business. Vector changes that: monetization of runtime and the first real step towards economic sustainability. From next quarter, Vector begins to digest engine data. This is where it gets really exciting: Unity has a massive data moat in gaming, larger and more diverse than even Epic's. This opens up a new era in real-time 3D (RT3D) – where deep contextual awareness can be leveraged to deliver better ads: which ones to show, when, and why. Over time, it extends beyond ads: in-game purchases and much more. And it directly relates to the perceived AI threat: No one is in a better position to leverage runtime context about gamers. $APP’s AXON was 1st generation; Vector + engine data is next. As CEO Matt Bromberg said: “We’re moving beyond capturing clicks… Our runtime will enable us to interpret this unique deep behavioral signal and provide more value…” Moving on to Create: We are entering a long-awaited paradigm shift. Unity is today a complex professional suite, often reserved for those who can code. Management is now executing a clear shift towards democratization: “AI inside Unity will lower the barrier to entry… and democratize game development for non-coders.” Unity has launched Unity Studio on the web – a no-code, lightweight alternative for collaborators (marketing, graphic designers, strategy, etc.). This can strengthen the seat-based model during a period when it might otherwise come under pressure. It's reminiscent of how Figma toppled Adobe by making collaboration easy and real-time. The next wave comes when non-coders can contribute via generative tools. World Models (e.g., Google's Genie 3) can become “bulk asset creation”. Bromberg outlined the limitations, but I don't think that changes the end picture: Diffusion went from toy to production quality in record time. The same will happen for interactive experiences. What people outside of games underestimate is the complexity of building a structured, consistent interactive experience. A movie is 2 hours; a story game is often 10–30. The world is living and dynamic, and “just generate a game” is far off. Even if AI-agents one day perform dev-roles, it still happens on top of engine-workflows. This benefits Grow (monetization after launch). Auto-generated short-form interactive experiences are a different story, however, and they are coming fast. Zuckerberg mentioned it as an evolution of $META ads, and $RDDT has also embraced it. They can be made NOW. Unity stands strong here with “build once, deploy anywhere”. Imagine vibe-coding a mini-game/experience and sharing it everywhere with one click. This is proven by Create’s traction in China across WeChat and OpenHarmony. Finally: GenAI is the last piece in the “RT3D everywhere” future I have long envisioned. Unity powers both $AAPL’s and $GOOGL’s XR efforts behind the scenes, and the data moat is intact. Epic cannot match that due to its focus on high-end and a muddy legal relationship with Big Tech. Interestingly, $META is the only one pursuing the goal on its own via a more vertically integrated stack. My take: They have realized the value of engine data – especially for ads in headsets/glasses. Therefore, I also plan to increase $META as a hedge against my (now quite massive) bet on Unity. For me, the combination of stronger monetization (Vector) and lower friction in creation (web/no-code + AI) is the real re-rating catalyst. GenAI is the piece, but an engine makes it deterministic and usable.
