- ·29.10.This has become a SELL from Alpha Picks today. I sold what I had after a 108% increase.
- 29.10.29.10.Royal Caribbean Group reported better-than-expected third-quarter earnings, but its shares sank on Tuesday as investors focused their attention on a disappointing outlook. The Miami giant, which is the second-largest cruise operator by fleet size and the world’s biggest by market capitalisation, reported a profit of $1.58bn, up from $1.11bn a year earlier. Its adjusted earnings per share came in at $5.75, better than the average analyst bet of $5.68. But the New York-listed company said it expects to report fourth-quarter adjusted EPS of between $2.74 and $2.79. That is below even the lowest forecast by 21 analysts polled by Yahoo Finance, where the average bet on the fourth quarter is $2.90. Chief executive Jason Liberty said the company also expects 2026 earnings per share “to have a $17 handle”. Wall Street bets That suggests that Royal Caribbean also expects lower adjusted EPS next year than analysts had been predicting. Wall Street’s average estimate for 2026 stands at $18.21, according to Yahoo Finance. Shares were down 7.7% in mid-morning trading after the announcement, when they stood at $295.33. In the third quarter, revenue surged to $5.14bn, up from $4.89bn in the same period of 2024. Cruise operating expenses rose to $2.5bn from $2.39bn a year earlier. Liberty said the company continues to see strong momentum across its business. “Our commercial flywheel — combining innovative ships, distinctive destinations and world-class brands — continues to drive sustained growth and guests’ trust in our ability to deliver the best vacation experiences responsibly,” he said in the announcement. ‘Strong booked position’ “Looking ahead, while it’s still early in the planning process, our strong booked position gives us confidence for 2026 and beyond.” The quarterly results lifted nine-month profit to $3.51bn, up from $2.33bn in the first three quarters of last year. - 24.9.24.9.Royal Caribbean Group has locked in newbuilding slots for a decade with a deal that also included an order for a giant vessel and signed an option for another. The Miami-based company, the second-largest cruise operator by fleet size and largest by market capitalisation, said it has reached a deal with Meyer Turku that secures rights to build at the Finnish yard until 2036. The long-term framework agreement strengthens the relationship between the shipbuilder and Royal Caribbean. The New York-listed operator also exercised an option at Meyer Turku to order the fifth vessel in its Icon class, the largest cruise ships in the world at 250,000 gt. The deal also adds an option for a seventh Icon-class ship, on top of an existing option for the sixth in the series. Royal Caribbean, led by chief executive Jason Liberty, said it plans to use some of the newly reserved Meyer Turku slots to build the next “game-changing” class of ships. “As we continue to reimagine the future of vacations, we are excited to continue collaborating with Meyer Turku to grow the Icon Class — a first-of-its-kind series that delivers exceptional vacation experiences — and position us to usher in a new era of innovation that will disrupt the vacation sector through 2036,” Liberty said in a statement. “This is an exciting time for our company, and we are proud to launch this new stage in our history with our esteemed partners, Meyer Turku, the Finnish government, and the Finnish maritime cluster.” Royal Caribbean generated massive passenger interest, and premium pricing, with last year’s rollout of its 5,610-berth Icon of the Seas (built 2023), the first in the class. That was followed by the sistership Star of the Seas last month. The Icon-class Legend of the Seas is set to sail next year, followed by delivery of a fourth vessel in 2027. Meyer Turku, led by chief executive Casimir Lindholm, has built all of the Icon-class ships. Clarksons Research’s shipping database shows they make up the yard’s entire orderbook. “With the framework agreement now signed, we announce our common plan for the next decade in cooperation with Royal Caribbean Group and other key partners to build more Icon Class ships and drive the future of shipbuilding over the next decade,” Lindholm said in a statement. “I am extremely proud of the recognition that these orders bring to the skilled personnel at Meyer Turku and to the Finnish maritime industry expertise.” The framework deal with Royal Caribbean has won applause from Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. “This new framework agreement is excellent news for Finland,” he said in a statment. “The longstanding collaboration between Royal Caribbean Group and Meyer Turku will continue to have a significant positive impact on Finland’s economy, creating jobs across the country and energising our unique maritime ecosystem.” Copyright: Tradewinds, simply the best!·28.10. · MuokattuWhat do you think about Lindblad Expeditions? My thoughts: In 10 years, turnover has increased 3 times. Profitability has been ok, but with 2 new ships, if only the occupancy rate increases from the current 85% to 95, then profitability will increase dramatically. Land experiences is doing brilliantly. The pandemic made a big dent in the profit curve, but the recovery is going steadily. However, they need to work down the debt. Through collaboration with National Geographic, I think they will reach new customer groups. New CEO, which I have high hopes for.
