·10 t sittenVSS, a somewhat forgotten stock, is now almost at the same level as before the outbreak of war and the closure of Hormuz (134 SEK 27 Feb). Hormuz is still closed and the world is eating into oil reserves. Regarding the oil price, it looks like the market is now pricing in an opening. Let's say that happens: Even if oil flows freely again, the shock after the closure will still leave a lasting geopolitical risk premium. I'm betting that oil companies will increase investments in politically stable areas like the North Sea and Arctic regions, which will ensure high, long-term rig activity in VSS' core areas. There's an inertia in this picture, meaning that from an investment decision being made by oil companies in "safe" areas until work actually starts can take 12 months (just guessing a bit here..) My point is that as a long-term case, I see very little downside for VSS since the supply side of large, ice-going AHTS vessels is historically tight and newbuilds are extremely expensive, rates will stabilize at very profitable levels even without the panic a closed Hormuz entails. If Hormuz remains closed, oil reserves are depleted, and the world "runs out" of oil, the upside here is enormous with today's market capitalization and VSS' high exposure to the spot market. With a small market capitalization and enormous operational leverage, an acute rate explosion will immediately impact the company's cash flow and the company will gush cash. As a long-term case and with a PB of 0.9..! it looks like a safe bet, with the possibility of a solid lottery win if Hormuz remains closed.
