Is The AI-Fueled Rally Sustainable? Son’s comments come at a time when SoftBank’s market value has surpassed that of Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE:TM), marking a shift in investor preference towards companies tied to AI infrastructure and technology platforms. Meanwhile, not everyone shares Son’s optimism. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), recently voiced his concerns about the current market enthusiasm, drawing parallels with market exuberance seen before significant market crashes of 1929, 2000 and 2007.

Regarding Softbank, it's largely a price on a future company. So when Softbank rises sharply due to France, it's because they are expected to make a lot of money from the contract with France and that more such deals will follow. But Softbank is probably not at all equipped for that. Softbank is probably FOMO. Countries that want to advance in the world want their own AI. That can't happen fast enough, and it probably also poses a security risk if countries don't get started. This could indicate a possible massive overpayment to Softbank, because they are probably the only ones countries can turn to.

Softbank and France Today's massive rise comes in the wake of enormous investment in France. If it had been in a period where Softbank was more financially constrained, then it would be a disturbing piece of news. But now everything is just running smoothly. It must simply be said that everyone wants AI, and no one else can really offer AI investments on a large scale like Softbank. It won't be a huge surprise, because who else should countries go to if they want to join the race.

There are probably also security questions, actually. Where the USA previously was the finest of the fine, there are likely other countries that are happy that Softbank is Japanese, and perhaps less politically sensitive than American ownership.

01.06.26 12:54:18 Softbank surpasses Toyota as Japan's most valuable company TOKYO - Softbank JP3436100006 surpassed Toyota Motors JP3633400001 as Japan's most valuable listed company on Monday. Shares in the technology group jumped 14 percent at the beginning of the week, pushing the company's stock market value above Toyota's for the first time in over two decades. Softbank last achieved this in 2000, at the height of the Japanese internet bubble. The ongoing AI boom has driven Softbank's shares up by over 90 percent this year and increased its market value to over 48 trillion yen (around 258 billion euro). Toyota's shares, on the other hand, amount to only around 46 trillion yen and have fallen more than 10 percent since the beginning of the year. Japan's memory chip manufacturer Kioxia Holdings is in third place with a market value of around 40 trillion yen. Softbank has focused its own resources on AI-related business areas and has benefited from the global technology bull market, said Tomo Kinoshita, global market strategist at Invesco Asset Management Japan. "Toyota, on the other hand, has been hit by rising oil prices as a result of the Iran conflict, which is driving up operating costs for vehicles and weighing on global demand for cars." Softbank's shares have recently been strengthened by reports that two prominent owners in the company, ChatGPT developer OpenAI and energy and infrastructure company SB Energy, are preparing for IPOs in the USA. Softbank announced plans over the weekend to invest up to 75 billion euro in the construction of AI data centers in France. In a first phase, 45 billion euro will be invested in the development of an AI capacity of 3.1 GW by 2031. The Japanese company is collaborating with the French group Schneider Electric FR0000121972. The announcement has increased expectations for further demand for AI infrastructure https://live.deutsche-boerse.com/nachrichten/AKTIEN-IM-FOKUS-Softbank-ueberholt-Toyota-als-wertvollstes-Unternehmen-Japans-6deb99f3-ed73-4bf2-b527-280444057b1a

I have owned Softbank for a couple of years with a large profit. I am considering taking profit, but with rising bottoms and the prospect of a couple of mega IPOs, I am waiting.
