- ·14.8.In short: China's car exports are growing so fast that the global fleet of specialized car carriers cannot keep up. * Chinese manufacturers are being pushed into export markets by overcapacity, fierce price competition, and weaker domestic car sales. According to the article, China could export up to 10 million cars in 2026, compared to just under 600,000 in 2019. * The shipping companies' car carrier fleet has already expanded by about 40 %, but freight rates have still risen by approximately 65 % this year. * Manufacturers are therefore also using ordinary containers, even though it is more expensive and more cumbersome. * BYD, SAIC, and other Chinese manufacturers are building their own shipping fleets. This provides better control over delivery, costs, and global expansion. * The USA is largely closed off through tariffs and regulations, so growth is primarily directed towards Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. From an investment perspective, the most interesting point is that the bottleneck supports the earnings of car carrier shipping companies like Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Höegh Autoliners, and K Line. But it is also a cyclical risk: The large order book of new ships and Chinese manufacturers' own fleets could later create overcapacity and pressure freight rates. For traditional car manufacturers, the story is more negative. The Chinese are no longer just exporting cheap cars; they combine low costs, attractive technology, and growing control over the logistics chain. This puts structural pressure on especially European and Japanese manufacturers. Difficult task for the German automotive industry 🪦
- ·10.8.Hi, I've been looking into this stock a bit, would anyone like to share why they bought it themselves and what they hope will happen in the future😁The company has far greater values than the share price indicates, and the crowd will surely "discover" that. They also make money even though there are big challenges. I think it will go up to a completely different level if good news comes. Unfortunately bought in a bit too early, but am holding steadily until it gets an upturn 🙏
- ·29.7.Has VW reached the turning point? I think some extremely positive trends are emerging! Most important of all are probably 1. Lucrative defense contracts. 2. Their ingenious battery factory with revolutionized drycoat technology. 3. Getting the EU to impose more tariffs on Chinese cars and regulations for subcontractors, 4. By signaling a catastrophic mood, they have obtained much more compliant trade unions. Their problem so far has been the batteries they had to buy. Now they are not only self-sufficient but are also entering the energy storage market. Unlike Tesla, which just sells batteries, VW will become an active part of the energy market with the buying and selling of energy. I could well imagine there's a very lucrative market waiting here. How are dividend payments handled? Does one pay German tax or how does it work in practice?
- ·28.7.From Wall Street Journal: Key points * Porsche will cut an additional 5,000 jobs by 2035. * Overall, the company is now heading towards approximately 9,000 fewer employees when previously announced cuts are included. * The job reductions primarily occur through voluntary resignations, retirement, and natural attrition – not forced layoffs. Why is this happening? 1. China is the biggest challenge * Porsche's sales in China fell by approx. 32 % in the first half of 2026. * Chinese premium brands like BYD, Xiaomi, Nio, and Zeekr have gained market share. * Chinese consumers are increasingly choosing local luxury cars. 2. The EV strategy missed the mark Porsche bet on about 80 % of sales being electric vehicles by 2030. The market developed differently: * Taycan has had fluctuating demand. * The electric Macan has not fully compensated for the outgoing gasoline version. * Porsche is now investing more in gasoline and hybrid models again. 3. USA American tariffs have significantly increased costs and pressured earnings. What does this mean for Volkswagen? Porsche is part of the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen is already undergoing extensive efficiency improvements and has previously signaled that the group as a whole can reduce its workforce much more than originally planned. Investor perspective In the short term, the market may actually view the news positively, because: * lower costs * higher future margins * focus on the most profitable models (911, Cayenne, etc.) But the real challenge remains: * Can Porsche regain growth in China? * Can they compete against Chinese premium EVs? * Can they maintain their luxury brand while reducing costs? The bright spot for VW is that Lamborghini delivers, so sports cars can be sold as long as they are extreme enough. But they are under Audi AG. https://www.di.se/live/sportbilsbolaget-satter-omsattningsrekord/
