O'Neil was the man who "invented" the Cup With Handle (base) and the CANSLIM method. According to O'Neil, the cup should be a base at the top after an upward move in the stock, so not at the bottom or anything. "Technical analysis according to the O'Neil school: After reaching a peak around 480 kr in July, the stock entered a consolidation phase (base) during August, September, and early October, where it hovered between 430 kr and 460 kr. The report acted as a catalyst. The stock has broken out of this base and is now trading at 478.20 kr. From a CAN SLIM perspective, this is a classic breakout on high volume, which is confirmed by several heavy investment banks, including Pareto and BNP Paribas, immediately raising their target prices (up to 575 kr) and issuing buy ratings."
