ABSTRACT One key research point of solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) is ionic conductivity. To date, their ionic conductivity is relatively low to meet the requirements of practical applications; thus, more investigations on the migration mechanisms are needed. Here, we constructed scandium-based halide SSEs (Li3-xSc1-x(Zr/Hf)xCl6, x = 0 ~ 0.5). The highest ionic conductivities (1.61 and 1.33 mS/cm) and the lowest activation energies (0.326 and 0.323 eV) are shown in Li2.6Sc0.6Zr0.4Cl6 (LSZC~0.4) and Li2.6Sc0.6Hf0.4Cl6 (LSHC~0.4), respectively. Their electrochemical windows in the cells of Li/Li7P3S11/LSZC~0.4/LSZC~0.4-C and Li/Li7P3S11/LSHC~0.4/LSHC~0.4-C are 1.3 ~ 4.2 V and 1.6 ~ 4.1 V versus Li+/Li, respectively. CONCLUSION In conclusion, scandium-based halide SSEs LSZC~0.4 (1.61 mS/cm, 0.326 eV) and LSHC~0.4 (1.33 mS/cm, 0.323 eV) with high ionic conductivities and low-activation energies were synthesized. Both Zr4+/Hf4+-doped SSEs are promising with wide electrochemical windows of 1.3 ~ 4.2 V and 1.6 ~ 4.1 V versus Li+/Li, respectively. Moreover, because of the lower cost of ZrCl4 compared with HfCl4, LSZC~0.4 is considered a more appropriate and more available SSE than LSHC~0.4. The phases of the doped samples are consistent with Li3ScCl6 (monoclinic, C2/m). The slight structure distortion and the change in the lithium chemical environments after doping were investigated in detail by XRD and NMR, and the possible reasons for the promotion of ionic conductivity were raised, which is that the doping led to more lithium defects and optimized Li+ pathways with much lower migration energy barriers. We believe this work can provide outstanding SSEs with high ionic conductivity, low-activation energy, and a wide electrochemical window. (TSX:SCY) ("Scandium International" or the "Company") is pleased to provide an update on its drilling programs at both of its deposits in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The drilling program has been planned for several years and is now possible because of the successful equity raise earlier this year. The drilling is planned to take place in the first quarter of 2023 because of the excessive rainfall in the last two months. NYNGAN A 12 hole program is planned at Nyngan; 10 holes on ML 1792 and the remaining two on EL 8316. All of this work is on the western extremity of the existing Nyngan resource and should add further higher grade Scandium resource to the project. With the resource approximately 20 meters below surface, a total of 500 metres of drilling is planned at Nyngan. HONEYBUGLE There are four major anomalies at Honeybugle and the drilling program is planned to better understand two of the anomalies at Honeybugle - Woodlong and Seaford. Woodlong exploration, which we believe to be the most prospective, will involve 27 holes which will follow up on earlier higher grade results. At Seaford, six holes will be drilled, with the goal to delineate any extension of earlier promising results. A total of 800 metres of drilling is planned at Honeybugle which is also a shallow mineralization. The NSW Government has confirmed that the Honeybugle exploration license has been approved for renewal for a further 6 years. CEO Peter Evensen commented, "With the Company's renewed financial resources after the capital raise earlier in 2022, this drill program is one of the first initiatives new management is undertaking to optimize the Company's scandium portfolio, identify potential incremental value, and highlight to all stakeholders the differentiated position of Nyngan as the commercial market for scandium develops further.
