In 2025 and into 2026, Sana has presented data from patients who have received transplanted insulin-producing cells in the forearm. Result: The cells survived and produced insulin for over 6-12 months without the use of immunosuppressive medication. This is a historic breakthrough, as it proves that Sana's "Hypoimmune" (HIP) technology can "hide" cells from the immune system. SC451 (Stem cell-derived islet cells + HIP technology): Status: This is the "scalable" version of UP421. Instead of using cells from donors (which are a limited resource), stem cells grown in a laboratory are used, which are then genetically modified with HIP technology. Next step: Sana has announced that they expect to submit an IND application (permission for clinical trials) during 2026. Their stock should have exploded, but that's how it is with Biotech, it's not easy to communicate, as it's often complex technology.
·1 päivä sittenuhh no. On the contrary, it is extremely expensive when they haven't even completed a phase 1 study on humans yet. Phase 1 is about safety, phase 2 efficacy. There's a loooooong way until there's investor-based security here. 840 Mio USD corresponds to approx. 5.5 billion DKK. It's only in the USA that one sees such valuations for a biotech company at such an early stage. For comparison, try looking at NextCell Pharma. It has completed phase 2, but the value is approx 135 million SEK.
