·24.11.2025The report is a bit "half-dull, but not a catastrophe" for a shipping company in a super-cyclical industry. The positive: From quarter to quarter, it actually got a bit better (they earn 400–700 dollar more per day and vessel than this spring), the cash pile is fat (44 million dollar in cash against only 79 in loans), the vessels are operating almost constantly (92 % utilization) and now they have secured new financing that provides 10 million extra in cash plus a new buyback program of 3 million dollar. Management apparently thinks the stock is dirt cheap, and that's a pretty strong buy signal. And most importantly: After nine months, it's almost zero on the bottom line, which is significantly better than many had expected in such a weak market. The negative, however, is quite substantial: Compared to last year, revenues have plummeted 28–30 %, earnings before depreciation are down 57 % and they have gone from +12 million dollar in profit to practically zero. It's simply a weak year for freight prices, geopolitical turmoil and a significant hangover after last year's record highs. Not a report one jumps for joy over if chasing growth, but for us who like to pick up stable companies when they are down in the basement and wait for the turnaround – yes, this actually feels quite okay. I bought a bit on the report.
