Xpeng delivered 40,126 vehicles in June. Xpeng's total deliveries for the first half of 2026 were 165,977 and fell 15,8% year over year. Li Auto delivered 30,895 in June. Li Auto's total deliveries for the first half of 2026 were 193,472 vehicles and fell 5,1% year over year. Source: TipranksNo, NIO is having a tough time from several aspects… Despite NIO increasing its total global deliveries and having surpassed over 1 million manufactured cars, the company is struggling with significant financial challenges and reduced profitability. The problems are mainly due to the following factors:Massive depreciation and price reductions: NIO has been forced to sharply cut prices to meet the fierce competition in the EV market. This has made older models much less valuable, which has led to dissatisfied existing customers and large financial losses per car sold. Extremely high development costs: The company is bleeding billions due to enormous investments that are not being utilized efficiently enough. They are not only developing cars but have also built their own network of battery swap stations (Power Swap Stations), which is incredibly costly. Almost non-existent sales in Europe: After a weak European launch, NIO has completely paused the introduction of new models in Europe at least until the end of 2027. In countries like Sweden and Germany, sales have been almost non-existent recently, which has led to managers being fired and all focus now shifting to China. Tough economic situation and profitability problems: The large increase in deliveries is partly driven by cheaper sub-brands (such as Onvo) as Börsvärlden reports. However, these cars generate lower profit margins, which means the company is still incurring billion-dollar losses and has been forced to raise urgent external capital to survive.
