24.2.24.2.IBM has already had solutions themselves for translating cobol to Java long time. Also IBM Bob can do it. People in the market are just reacting to this as a killer move. IBM is big in software. Big in infra and can run Software in any cloud thanks to Red Hat Openshift (IBM Company) compatible architecture.

Although they have a solid business, I'm a bit skeptical if their quantum stuff is viable and generic enough to generate ROI for them...27.1.27.1.That if the applications live up to the hype. Sure, it can perhaps be used to decrypt older stuff and perhaps complex medical simulation but those have to be customized per case. And scalability/error correction is still anyone's guess29.1.29.1.Ain't complaining but I stand by my argument in the long run ;-)

New quantum technology A breakthrough in quantum computing could quickly render today's AI infrastructure obsolete. «Hardware that is currently GPU-based could quickly become obsolete, creating clear winners and losers when the breakthrough comes. Nvidia's lead will be put to the test; companies with quantum IP (IBM, Google, Rigetti) will receive a significant boost,» writes the bank.
